ATC Instructor The Institute, which is part of the Agency, is the EUROCONTROL Air Traffic Management (ATM) Training Centre and is responsible for providing training services. It also promotes harmonised operation of Air Traffic Management through education and transfer of knowledge. It works in partnership with the Organisation's Member States and those of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC).

Within the Training Division is an ATC (Air Traffic Control) Training Unit which provides ATC training for Maastricht UAC and other member states on request. The majority of training is delivered in Luxembourg, where the latest generation of ATC simulators is housed. The service provided by the Unit is customer-driven and must respond quickly and flexibly to changing needs and meet the requirements of Maastricht UAC.
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Under the supervision of the Head of ATC Training Unit, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

developing and maintaining high quality Common Core Content classroom (and simulator) training material;
providing high quality ATC instruction to ab-initios in a classroom and simulator environment;
initiating quality improvements of ATC courses;
coaching students and performing assessment duties through verbal and written reports;
undertaking a programme of operational refresher familiarisation and competency checks on an annual basis in accordance with regulatory requirements;
participating as required in workgroups and task forces in the capacity of an ATC expert.

In addition the successful candidate will be required to:


to act as Deputy/Course Supervisor and lead associated activities, resources and complex work packages;
to participate to Ab-Initio selection boards;
to deputize for the Training Manager of Maastricht Training as necessary.
REQUIRED PROFILE
 
Current or previous valid Area Radar control licence for a minimum of five years with instructional experience. Some experience in Approach radar is desirable.
Knowledge of European Air Traffic Management (EATM) and specialist knowledge and experience in at least one training subject related to ATS as per EATM Common Core Content (CCC) guidelines.
Awareness of Regulatory issues affecting training, in particular compliance requirements with ESARRs and the European manual of Personnel Licensing.
Good communication skills together with knowledge of current teaching methods and techniques.
Awareness and experience of modern ATC simulation platforms.
Experience in project management or leading activities.
Ability to solve problems with a focus on quality and results.
Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment.
The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular position, an excellent knowledge of English with the ability to teach in English is essential together with a basic knowledge of French. Knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage.

Applications will be accepted from nationals of EUROCONTROL Member States only. Agency Staff governed by the Staff Regulations governing Officials, General Conditions of Employment governing Servants or Conditions of Employment of Contract Staff are considered internal candidates. At the closing date of the notice of competition, internal candidates must have completed their probationary period.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
 
An initial selection will be made by a Selection Board on the basis of the qualifications and experience of the candidates. Thereafter, those candidates considered suitable may be invited for assessment and interviews.
External candidates will be offered an appointment for a 3 year limited duration and will be appointed pursuant to the provisions of the Staff Regulations. Before being confirmed in their posts, they will have to work a probationary period of 9 months.
