Technical Support Assistant The SRU is responsible for the preparation of harmonised safety regulatory objectives and requirements for the ATM system. As part of the EUROCONTROL Agency, with the appropriate level of independence, the SRU supports the Safety Regulation Commission (SRC). It reports to the EUROCONTROL Director General for administrative purposes.

SAFETY REGULATION UNIT (SRU) REGULATION UNIT (SRU)

The SRU is responsible for the preparation of harmonised safety regulatory objectives and requirements for the ATM system. As part of the EUROCONTROL Agency, with the appropriate level of independence, the SRU supports the Safety Regulation Commission (SRC). It reports to the EUROCONTROL Director General for administrative purposes.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Reporting to the Head of Unit, the jobholder will be required to actively participate to the activities of the Safety Regulation Unit by developing and maintaining appropriate tools, IT based when appropriate, undertaking statistical analysis and supporting technical programmes, and in particular by:

managing and enhancing the AST (Annual Summary Template) system, the handling, storage and presentation of safety data received through the AST system;
participating in the analysis of Annual Summary Templates, supporting and participating in the analysis of safety occurrence data, in order to collaborate in the definition and development of key safety risk areas and trends in ATM, and deriving recommendations for safety improvement;
managing the database used by auditors in the ESIMS (ESARR Implementation Monitoring and Support) Programme, participating in the analysis of Audit Findings, and deriving recommendations for safety improvement;
further developing and maintaining the SRC web site;
interfacing with the Unit's stakeholders in his/her area of responsibility, handling routine queries and organising meetings/workshops.
REQUIRED PROFILE
 
Higher secondary education + 2/3 years further education in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum five years of relevant professional experience with experience in the use of internet and web site related software together with the management and updating of databases and information retrieval.
Knowledge of standard MS Office applications is required, knowledge of MS Project and programming for MS Visual Basic would be an advantage.
Proven experience in the preparation of meetings, including the drafting of minutes, routine correspondence, and preparation of presentations.
General knowledge of the organisation of ATM in Europe, including safety aspects and experience in aviation regulation, with a strong preference for ATM Safety Regulation.
Knowledge of and/or experience in the safety occurrence data collection and analysis would be an advantage.
Pro-active approach with the ability to analyse both information and problems and to present technical issues in a clear and comprehensive manner.
Good networking skills and organisational ability.
The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular post, candidates must have an excellent knowledge (written & spoken) of English and a working knowledge of French.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
 
An initial selection will be made by a Selection Committee on the basis of the candidates' qualifications and experience. Thereafter, those candidates considered suitable may be invited to assessment and interviews.
The selected candidate will be offered a contract of three years. The contract may be renewed once for a fixed period of not more than three years. Before being confirmed in his/her post, the selected candidate will have to complete a probationary period of 9 months.
The contract will be governed by the provisions of the "Conditions of Employment of Contract Staff at EUROCONTROL". The generic post is: Senior Assistant.
