HITT has received an order amounting to EUR 8 million to deliver ground movement control systems for the airports of Ankara, Istanbul and Antalya in Turkey. These three airports handle the majority of all air traffic to, from and in Turkey.
These ground movement control systems support air traffic controllers in guiding aircraft and vehicle movements on the airport under all weather conditions. The systems will be delivered mid 2010.
Despite the present world-wide economic situation, airports suffer from capacity problems increasing pressure on airport efficiency. It is expected that traffic will grow further once the economic crisis is over. In addition to safety and security of traffic, these systems take care of an optimal organization and flow of the traffic resulting in an improved use of the existing and sometimes unused- airport capacity.
The contract for the three airports is a breakthrough for HITT in Turkey and is in line with its strategy to further strengthen and build its position in Europe and the Far East. HITT focuses on a range of activities to improve efficiency on the airport. HITT previously provided these kind of systems in all Scandinavian countries, Germany, China, Korea, India and the Netherlands of course.
