Latvia joins the North European ANS Providers (NEAP)

The national air traffic services provider of Latvia, Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme (LGS) will join the North European ANS Providers (NEAP).
 
The signing ceremony will take place at ATC Global 2009, Tuesday 17 March at 2 p.m. by the NEAP stand H325/Hall 11 / Hollandhal

NEAP is cooperation between ANS providers in Northern Europe: The LFV Group (Sweden), Avinor (Norway), Naviair (Denmark), Finavia (Finland), Isavia (Iceland), EANS (Estonian Air Navigation Services) and IAA (Irish Aviation Authority). NATS (UK) is taking part as ob-server.

The CEOs of all NEAP member organizations will be present at the signing.

A NEAP Programme Office was recently established at Stockholm airport, Arlanda, with
Mr. Matts-Anders Nyberg from Finavia (Finland) as the programme manager, who will also
be present at the NEAP stand.

The NEAP members have agreed to create a common service concept for air traffic man-agement in the North European region and work in accordance with the principles of Single European Sky (SES): Safety, quality and cost reduction.

NEAP has the following objectives until 2020:

Improve cost efficiency within the air navigation operations by 30%
Adapt charges 25% lower than the European average whilst at the same time improv-ing quality of the services available
Maintain or reduce the number of flight safety critical incidents per year
Increase the capacity in the region to accommodate to up to 50% traffic increase
Reduce emission levels, which are attributable to inefficient air navigation services by 50%

NEAP will establish a Functional Airspace Block (FAB). The North European Functional Airspace Block (NEFAB) will be implemented by the end of 2012. The project manager of NEFAB is Mr. Anders Sætre from Avinor. He will also be present at the NEAP stand.

NEAP is also involved in SESAR JU through the joint programme NORACON. In addition to the regular members of NEAP, Austrocontrol also participates in NORACON. The establish-ment of a NORACON programme office is planned in Brussels this year.
