Frequentis signed the Oslo ATCC contract with Avinor (the Norwegian air navigation service provider) on March 6th, 2008 and the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) took place in August last year.
Frequentis recently passed the Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and has just put the system into full operation with its new Release 6.1. The worlds market leader in voice communication systems for air traffic control is supplying Avinor with its VCS solutions.
We are excited to have Avinor as a customer, and particularly value the strong cooperative partnership we have built with them through the project. The main challenge for the new system was the complex redundancy concept. Together with Avinor, we mastered demanding technical needs while keeping to the time schedule, said Hannes Bardach, CEO Frequentis.
Avinor had some very challenging technical requirements, but also wanted timely implementation of the new system. Frequentis was able to meet those needs thanks to intensive collaboration with the customer during the whole project. The solution and its implementation are unique and involve, for example, multiple system redundancy.
The four VCS systems delivered (VCS 3020X) include 115 working positions and two VCX nodes were also provided. The main system and the backup system run synchronously: if there is a need to switch to the backup system, it immediately displays the same configuration as the main system.
