Airways New Zealand has introduced the Frequentis electronic flight progress strip system (smartStrips) to Wellington International Airport. This follows successful deployment of the system at Christchurch International Airport.
Airways New Zealand is one of the worlds most advanced Air Navigation Service Providers. As part of its plan to improve safety and work efficiency through automation within the main air traffic control towers, the company is introducing smartStrips. Airways New Zealand identified the Frequentis product as a best-of-breed air traffic information system technology. smartStrips helps the company reach its business goals and sets a platform for future systems integration that will enable its Vision 2015 ATM work program to be realised.
Airways New Zealand and Frequentis have established a close working partnership to ensure the new technologys introduction is as smooth and efficient as possible. Under the arrangement, Airways New Zealand software engineers and operational specialists helped adapt smartStrips to meet the exact operational and business needs of New Zealands major air traffic routes.
Airways New Zealand plan to introduce smartStrips at Auckland tower in October.
