Performance of flight trials to validate solutions that will reduce C02 emissions. The Atlantic Interoperability initiative to Reduce Emissions (AIRE) initiative has shown positive results to-date and is proposed to be substantially extended in 2010 as part of a call for tender procedure. Future AIRE projects should ideally be structured on the basis of an ideal gate to gate flight receiving a clearance that provides an optimal environmental service. The opportunity should be taken to implement quick wins or best practice, to accelerate the pace of change, building on present aircraft capability levels. The SJU envisages placing 10-20 contracts under this call for tender.
