Surveillance Data Processing Systems

This course covers the following topics:

  • SDPS objectives
  • Sensor Characteristics
  • Basic Tracking Functions
  • Tracking Performance and Compromises
  • Multi-Radar Processing Methods
  • Advanced Techniques
  • Impact of Mode S and ADS

The objective of the course is to give an overview of the significant characteristics and functions of Surveillance Data Processing Systems (SDPS). It is aimed primarily at engineers. Nevertheless, the mathematics in this course is quite basic, which means it can be understood by a wider audience.

Although the subject matter is mainly aimed at describing SDPS for Civil Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems, most of the principles are equally applicable to military SDPS systems.

QinetiQ’s Air Traffic Management team has a long (30 years +) track record of providing independent and trusted advice on regulatory, technical and safety matters to Air Navigation Service Providers, Regulatory Authorities and Industry. Our team includes acknowledged world experts in a number of ATM fields.
