Misunderstandings in ATC Communication - Out 28 May 2013

A lot of incidents in aviation can be in some way related to the problems of communication between personnel. Either within the cockpit or from air to ground, or even ground to ground.

We know from every day life that sometimes we struggle to understand our fellow planet dwellers. Differing languages, accents, pronunciation, mumblers, shouters, etc. We often can not decipher what someone wants us to hear.

In ATC we are mostly supposed to speak clear distinct ICAO level English to each other through a radio link. Does this always happen.? Absolutely not. This book looks into some of the reasons why.

The book will be released on May 28th. You can pre-order it through Amazon.
We were kindly sent a review copy by Ashgate Publishing and I have to say it is a very interesting read and an extremely well put together publication.
