A new generation of ATM-grade network performance is born

vitalsphere launch at the 2016 World ATM Congress

- Vienna, Austria.

The new Frequentis solution, vitalsphere, launches today at the 2016 World ATM Congress in Madrid. A new generation of ATM-grade network performance is born to support on-going changes in air traffic control such as remote towers and the virtualisation of control centres. With exceptional end-to-end performance, vitalsphere helps to maintain the highest level of safety while scaling capacity and improving cost competitiveness.

Safety-critical applications require a dedicated solution and the launch of vitalsphere fulfils this need. It is crucial to act before a link black-out. With real-time information of actual network performance, the new Frequentis solution makes it possible to re-route safety-critical communication flows before the link fails. To improve service availability vitalsphere enables deterministic communication flows allowing for end-to-end path diversity for selected communication flows, e.g. by separating main and standby communication flows. Vitalsphere is a hybrid (terrestrial-satellite) network solution.

A hybrid network has to solve many challenges, a conventional network can’t fulfil: Different network delays, varying jitter, supported routing protocols and failover behaviour. vitalsphere provides an application-aware routing of communications, enables end-to-end path diversity and allows ANSPs to act before failure”, Stefan Galler, Product Manager for ATM networks at Frequentis.

vitalsphere combines three central performance elements:

  • Intelligent routing & control matching real-time network performance and application needs.
  • Situational awareness through vendor neutral end-to-end monitoring of applications and networks.
  • Scalable networks through integration of diverse technologies from multiple vendors.

The launch of vitalsphere in Madrid welcomes a new generation of ATM-grade network performance – for a safer world. Frequentis’ ATM-grade network solutions build its experience connecting 33 % of the world’s surface. Through partnering with technology and service providers as well as with local system integrators Frequentis plans to further expand its market share.
