Airports Authority of India (AAI) selects GECI for the modernisation of its ADS-B Surveillance

- Madrid, Spain.

GECI´s forefront technology GT280 ADS-B Station will be delivered to 10 different airport sites in India. The advanced ADS-B station will provide AAI critical surveillance service to the country where local controllers will now be experiencing greater enhancements for approach and take-off procedures, including for international en-route traffic.

GECI´s GT280 ADS-B sensor is a modern and cost-efficient alternative to conventional radar with the ability to build a complete air situation picture from airport surface to well beyond 250nm.  India’s vast landscape of over three million square kilometres, including the high altitudes of the Himalayas, will benefit immensely from the long-range surveillance solution and its ability to provide heightened efficiency and safety in all operational procedures, while presenting a supplement to conventional radar coverage.

With Indian air traffic experiencing growth from both international and domestic flights, placing it among the top five nations for flight increases, the need for greater efficiency and accuracy was paramount to assist with capacity rises, which highlighted ADS-B and GECI´s GT280 as the perfect solution. Further key aspects for selection were GECI´s high reliability, high performance and zero hardware maintenance costs.
