Hannu Juurakko appointed to lead the Civil Air Traffic Management Business Area at FREQUENTIS

- Vienna, Austria

Hannu Juurakko has taken on responsibility for the strategic and commercial development of the ATM Civil business unit at Frequentis. As senior executive with strong international experience, Mr Juurakko took up his new position on 1 January 2013. He succeeds Frank Molitor, who guided the growth of the company’s civil ATM business through the last decade.

Commenting on the appointment, Frequentis CEO Hannes Bardach says: “The Frequentis board has long been acquainted both with Mr Juurakko and his work, given his positions at various related companies. We got to know and value his clear leadership approach, which fits so well with the prevailing culture at Frequentis. I am delighted that Mr Juurakko has agreed to join our team and am very pleased to welcome him on board.”

In taking on his new responsibilities, Mr Juurakko can call on over 20 years of experience in various senior management positions in the international telecommunication and security industries. His CV includes positions at Nokia, Telia Sonera, Alcatel, Cassidian and AGT International, working in general, project, product line, sales, and product business management, as well as in product and system engineering.

Frequentis and Mr Juurakko first met in 2000, during his time as Head of Development at Nokia. The two companies were working together in the field of mission-critical communication. After the Nokia department responsible for TETRA systems was sold to Cassidian in 2005, Mr Juurakko became a Vice President at Cassidian Systems (formerly EADS Defence & Security), where he was responsible for global solutions and technologies in the area of professional mobile radios, including TETRA, TETRAPOL and P25 technologies. Most recently he was a President of Products and Solutions at AGT International, a public safety and security solutions provider with operations across the globe.

Mr Juurakko expects to draw on both his technical and strategic experience in his new management position: “Joining Frequentis was not a difficult decision as I have known the company culture and management for over ten years: I have always liked the Frequentis business values and the strong customer-oriented approach. My predecessor Frank Molitor has established Frequentis as the market leader in the core voice communication and ATM automation segment. I look forward to taking on the ATM challenge and, along with a committed and dedicated team, to helping our customers reach their goals.”

Frank Molitor will take a sabbatical and return to a new management position within Frequentis later this year.
