Passengers will sadly suffer enough from EU’s “Improvement Plans”

- Maastricht, The Netherlands.

As announced, Union representatives of ACV Transcom/CSC Transcom (Belgium), GdF (Germany), SNCTA (France), TUEM (EUROCONTROL/MUAC), VNLG (The Netherlands), SwissATCA (Switzerland) met with representatives of the Dutch, Belgian, German, French, Swiss, and Luxembourg’s Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs).

Additionally, the different Unions also liaised with the respective States about the European Union/Commission imposed performance & cost saving plans, which are currently being developed and foreseen to enter into force in the coming months.

As this meeting yielded some additional or new information, also on the position of the different States and ANSPs, the Unions’ representatives need to re-assess what the impact is for the staff they represent, and merely for the Air Navigation System that they guard.

Following the meeting with the ANSPs at FABEC level, the Unions’ representatives concluded that the millions of passengers that use the European air transport system will already suffer enough this summer from the lack of investments coming from the irrational performance system that the European Commission has chosen to impose/sustain.

As such, and in order not to burden these passengers any further, they have decided not to pursue any industrial action for the time being but rather engage in public communication on the risks facing the Air Navigation System.

However, the Unions’ representatives will evaluate further developments on monthly bases, with the next review foreseen on 10th & 11th of June 2015 in Frankfurt. If at any time such an evaluation reveals a need for a joint wide-scale industrial action, it may well be reconsidered.
Note that all organizations retain their individual prerogative to individually announce industrial actions, within their existing framework agreements.
