The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) contracts Frequentis to deliver smartMessenger AMHS solution

The implementation of smartMessenger in Ireland further reinforces the companys strong AMHS market position in the ICAO Europe and North Atlantic region (EUR/NAT).
Frequentis is pleased to announce that the Irish Aviation Authority has signed a contract to upgrade its AFTN message switch with Frequentis smartMessenger.

Patrick Tarrant, Project Manager at IAA said, IAA opened an international tender for a new AMHS system. After a thorough evaluation of all the bids, we awarded the contract to Frequentis based on the technical and financial merits of their smartMessenger solution.

Frequentis has become a key supplier of AMHS systems to the ICAO EUR/NAT region: the IAA contract follows successful implementation of smartMessenger solutions in Denmark, Finland, Latvia and Albania.

The IAA smartMessenger implementation includes operational, contingency and test systems. It will be connected to the international AMHS centres in Bordeaux (France) and Swanwick (UK). The project also involves implementation of a network infrastructure (routers, firewalls, etc.) and a system monitoring and control (SMC) system. smartMessenger was designed to ease the migration from AFTN and CIDIN to AMHS and SWIM, and offers high performance and high availability. The field-proven solution has been installed at a number of locations around the world.

smartMessenger supports both basic and extended AMHS services, as defined in the ICAO AMHS SARPS. It also complies in full with EUROCONTROL AMHS specifications, regional AMHS standards, and all EC safety and interoperability regulations.
