EUROCONTROL - Time-based assistance of a Database Software Engineer



Within MUAC, the Engineering Domain is responsible for providing a cost-effective and timely support service to maintain the high-level operational availability and functionality of all the technical systems.

Within the Engineering Domain, the Air Traffic Management Systems Unit (ATS) is developing and maintaining ATM systems and software. It is split up into 6 teams, including the ACE (Airspace Capacity and Environment management tools) team which is in charge of the Manpower Planning Toolset (MPT).

The ACE team is currently involved in a new project, the objective of which is to provide another directorate of EUROCONTROL, namely the Network Manager (NM), with MUAC’s MPT. The idea is to provide the toolset as a service, i.e. MUAC will be responsible for the full system maintenance of the MPT. The candidate of the present Call For Tender will be required to support the ACE team to perform the software development, maintenance and support of the MPT for both the MUAC and NM users, and possibly of other database applications under the team responsibility.

The Maastricht UAC is seeking tenders relating to the assistance of a Database Software Engineer with the next skills and qualifications:

Required/essential skills and qualifications, amongst others:


- Higher technical education in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent professional knowledge

- Good oral and written communication skills in English; team-oriented attitude.


- At least 3 years’ experience as a database application developer with good knowledge of the relational model, PL/SQL and Oracle.

- At least 3 years’ experience in writing technical and test documentation.


- Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems, and to present key issues and recommended solutions in a clear, structured and concise way.

Desirable skills and qualifications are amongst others:


- Experience in developing software in Java, accessing databases from Java, accessing databases from a web browser, APEX, Javascript, Oracle Forms

- Experience with manpower planning and/or resource optimization tools.
