Event description

Airports, air navigation service providers and airlines, not to mention the air and ground manufacturers, have all been hit incredibly hard by the coronavirus pandemic. As air travel tentatively resumes, the industry is understandably focusing on the here and now, adapting their operations to provide the safest and healthiest passenger experience possible.

At the same time, many in the business are calling for an acceleration in the digital transformation of aviation, especially its air traffic management (ATM) system, as a matter of urgency. Indeed the move to digitalised infrastructure is seen as critical for making aviation more scalable, economically sustainable, environmentally efficient, predictable and resilient in the long run.

Now is the time to think about the future, to re-set the aviation industry, making it stronger, more resilient, more sustainable.  The SESAR Joint Undertaking is organising a series of vodcasts under the tagline: ‘COVID-19: A game changer for aviation?’ to engage the aviation community in a joint exploration of what needs to be done, and in particular how technology can bring about fundamental changes to the way we manage air traffic.

Broadcast live via Livestorm, the vodcasts will feature interview and discussions between some of the industry thought leaders.

The second vodcast How can ATM innovation help to reboot aviation sustainably? will feature:

Marylin Bastin, Head of Aviation Sustainability, Eurocontrol
Marc Hamy, Vice Président Corporate Affairs, Sustainability and Environment, Airbus
Florian Guillermet, Executive Director, SESAR JU

and moderated by Andrew Charlton, Executive Director, ATM Policy Institute
