Today most up-to-date modern European State aircraft are fitted with GPS PPS (Global Positioning System Precise Positioning Service) receivers. As part of an effort to rationalize avionics and to reduce costs, re-utilizing available equipage where possible, there is a need to provide suficient evidence that those aircraft, relying on GPS PPS receivers, can fly airspace structures predicated on PBN ensuring the required levels of safety.
An alternative method to evidence the compliance of the military GPS receiver towards PBN requirements will assist State authorities and other organisations when approving and publishing alternative means of compliance for State aircraft to comply with those requirements, safeguarding military-military interoperability.
The request consists of launching a Call For Tenders to carry out the definition of an alternative method to evidence the compliance of the military GNSS (GPS PPS) receiver against PBN requirements in order to support the contribution of EUROCONTROL to SESAR 2020 Solution 79. The expected duration of the contract is nine months.
