EUROCONTROL - Opportunity Traffic Association Support


EUROCONTROL is the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation. SASS-C (Surveillance Analysis Support System for ATC Centre) is a software system for Surveillance Infrastructure Analysis operated by ANSP’s and ATM industry, and maintained/developed by EUROCONTROL together with its industrial partners.

SASS-C system is made of two main functions:

- Surveillance Infrastructure Performance PREDICTion, shortly called PREDICT(ion)

- Surveillance Infrastructure Performance VERIFication, shortly called VERIF(ication)

The OTR (Opportunity Traffic Reconstructor) is one of the key elements of VERIFication, in charge of:

- associating the surveillance sensor target reports in chains

- estimating the various sensors biases and applying their correction onto the target report measurments

- reconstructing the trajectories from those bias corrected target reports in term of 3D mechanic variables (position, velocity and acceleration, MoF) together with their uncertainties, but also in term of identity and other discrete parameters

- analysing and categorising the trajectories

- identifying missing target reports
