To be able to meet the increasing demand Estonian ANS launched the Tallinn Tower Modernisation Project with an objective to enhance capacity at the Tallinn aerodrome, increase ground traffic safety and improve quality of the services. Within the frames of this project it is planned to upgrade the existing Air Traffic Management System and its supporting systems, to implement an on-line data exchange between Tallinn Airport, Approach Control Unit (APP) and other cooperation partners. The project also covers an update of Tower (TWR) working positions and operating methods and the installation of a ground movement surveillance system at Tallinn aerodrome, i.e. radar and MLAT sensors including safety nets.
