Further ADS-B Installations in Abu Dhabi through COMSOFT

COMSOFT provides three additional ADS-B ground stations to the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the UAE.
ABU DHABI/UAE, April 2009 After having evaluated COMSOFT's ADS-B sensor Quadrant for a period of two years, GCAA has selected the German surveillance expert to provide three operational ADS-B ground stations. With Tarif, Sharjah and the new Sheikh Zayed Centre in Abu Dhabi serving as locations, distinguished ADS-B coverage of UAE's busy air space and adjacent areas is made available.
GCAA also contracted the complementing control and monitoring unit QCMS which allows the user to monitor and maintain the ADS-B equipment from a central site to ensure system availability and performance.
While ADS-B is considered as reliable and cost-effective long term surveillance solution and has in the meanwhile become accepted among the air traffic management industry as such, more and more ANSP embark on this modern technique. The GCAA currently pushes towards the completion of the new Sheikh Zayed Air Traffic Centre which is designed to become the largest and most advanced air traffic management environment in the Middle East. So far the modern centre has been supplied with several COMSOFT systems among which are the ARTAS tracker and the PRISMA ATC automation system.
