OGC_Associate_Member_Icon_2DKARLSRUHE/GERMANY, October 2009 The Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) is a non-profit, international, voluntary consensus standards organization that is leading the development of standards for geospatial and location based services. On September 30th COMSOFT has joined the circle of associate members.
Based on the fact that most of todays aeronautical data is geo-referenced, an increasing number of techniques originating from the geospatial domain are adopted for Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) services. Apart from that, future aeronautical infrastructure concepts like System Wide Information Management (SWIM) as envisaged by FAA and EUROCONTROL will be based on OGC standards like Web Feature Services (WFS).
In order to overcome interoperability problems and to allow for the seamless integration of geospatial information the further development of OGC standards are of importance to all players in the ATC domain. COMSOFT's wish to further align their increasing activities in this domain prompted the German ATM solution provider to join OGC.
