Egis enters a framework agreement with the European Aviation Safety Agency for its international technical cooperation mission

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is the European Community body responsible for promoting the highest standards of safety and environment protection in aviation.
The organisation carries out a three-pronged mission to:
  • Draft legislation alongside the European Commission;
  • Provide the necessary guidance material to help national competent authorities putting rules into force;
  • Monitor their application.
As air traffic is growing worldwide, less advanced countries increasingly express the need for advice and technical assistance in aviation safety. Many of them are willing to meet the safety standards as defined by EASA and request its support to adopt these rules because they lack local expertise and resources. At the same time, the European Commission launches Civil Aviation Co-operation Programmes and requires EASAs contribution to these projects. Through its International Technical Cooperation unit, the Agency provides the expertise to improve the regulatory framework and oversight capabilities of recipient countries. In the aim to support its international cooperation mission, EASA selected through a tender process an ad-hoc consortium of civil aviation experts led by Egis Avia and gathering Bureau Veritas, SGI Aviation Services, Lufthansa Consulting and UK CAA International. The scopes of the two framework contracts are focused on consulting services in English and French. These contracts were signed for a renewable one-year period, with a maximum entire duration of four years. These missions in the respective beneficiary countries will include:
  • Current situation assessment in terms of aviation safety and environment protection;
  • Identification of potential improvement in adopting international or European standards;
  • Roadmap and action plans (e.g. technical assistance, reorganisation of the Authority or staff training).
