Venice becomes 3rd A-CDM Italian airport

- Brussels, Belgium.

Venice Marco Polo airport has now joined the ranks of other European airports in implementing airport collaborative decision-making (A-CDM) and connecting to the Network Manager. It is the third Italian airport to do so; Milan Linate and others are expected to follow soon.

Real-time information sharing with our partners

A-CDM is a process at the Airport that optimises the turnaround process based upon an integrated platform which shares real-time information about the status of all departing flights with all local operational partners and with the Network Manager Operations Centre.

The EUROCONTROL Network Manager shares this information with all its operational partners, so optimising air traffic flow and airport capacity management, improving flight punctuality, reducing fuel consumption and minimising aviation’s environmental impact.

Thanks to A-CDM, all the phases of a flight, from the flight plan to airport operations, from take-off to en-route to landing, with the corresponding turn-around, can be considered as a "single process" linking the departing flight to the landing flight.

This real-time, continuous exchange of information makes for optimised services, for air traffic management and all handling operations.

A-CDM developments

The concept of A-CDM has become an integral part of the SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research) programme and will be adopted in Europe as an official working method, in accordance with EUROCONTROL standards.

Congratulations to SAVE (Venice Tessera Group), ENAV (the national air traffic control and air traffic management company), the aircraft operators and the handling companies currently operating at the airport for this significant achievement.

Other A-CDM airports in Europe are:

  • Berlin Schönefeld,
  • Brussels,
  • Düsseldorf,
  • Frankfurt,
  • Helsinki,
  • London Gatwick,
  • London Heathrow,
  • Madrid,
