Harris Corporation to Upgrade Air Traffic Control Communications in Two African Nations

Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has been awarded contracts to upgrade critical air traffic control (ATC) communications at airports in Liberia and the island nation of Comoros.

Harris will supply its Liberty-STAR™ Voice Communication and Control System (VCCS) to both nations.

Liberty-STAR™ VCCS features a modular architecture, open-platform software and commercial-off-the-shelf hardware that delivers a reliable, scalable communications solution for ATC towers, airline and area control dispatch, flight service stations, and mobile shelters. Systems will be equipped with touch-screen operator positions, radio interfaces, telephone interfaces, and a System Maintenance, Administration and Reconfiguration Terminal (SMART) POSITION™.

Harris has extensive experience developing mission-critical solutions that support civil and military ATC operations worldwide, including more than 200 customers in 50 countries. Harris also has supplied communications systems for a number of other African countries, including South Africa, Angola, Algeria, Nigeria and Sierra Leone.
