SESAR events at 2014 World ATM Congress

The SESAR Joint Undertaking is organising a series of events as part of the World ATM Congress from the 3 to 6 March, in Madrid, Spain. Themed “From innovation to solution: partnering for smarter aviation”, the SESAR events will provide the latest on the programme’s progress in delivering a solid stream of solutions in response to the most pressing operational business demands across Europe’s entire ATM system.

The preliminary agenda features the following events:

SESAR internal meeting (SESAR members only)


Monday 3 March 2014, 15:00-18:00, Room N106

SESAR Forum


Tuesday 4 March 2014, 14:30-16:30, Room N105+N106
SESAR’s members and partners are proving that, by working together with a range of stakeholders, changes in the ATM domain are possible. The SESAR Forum will explore the steps necessary to make these changes a reality and how to bring SESAR results to the market for deployment. The Forum will begin with several interventions and then go to a panel discussion hearing the perspectives from various stakeholders.

Workshop: Demonstrating SESAR
Wednesday 5 March 2014, 10:30-12:30, Room N106
The workshop will provide an overview of SESAR Demonstration activities, as well as showcase a number of projects that are currently underway. The workshop will also outline the planning for the RPAS Demonstration Projects and hear from several of the selected projects.

Workshop: Unpacking SESAR Solutions
Wednesday 5 March 2014, 13:45-15:45, Room N106
The workshop will look at the solutions that the SESAR programme is delivering for further development and deployment. The workshop will also address the standardisation and regulatory implications and will explain how the solutions will be considered as part of the deployment process.

Demo: Initial 4D Trajectory Management

Initial 4-D trajectory management combines conventional three-dimensional data with time estimates computed by aircraft. Blended together, this data pinpoints aircraft positions accurately and predictably. This demo will feature a synchronised video playback of recent i4D flight trials and participants will hear from some of the key actors involved in developing this novel approach to trajectory management.
