SELEX Sistemi Integrati has been awarded a contract in Ukraine for civil systems

On the occasion of the European Football Championship which will take place in Ukraine in 2012, SELEX Sistemi Integrati, a Finmeccanica company, signed two contracts for a total value of 15 million euros with the Ukrainian National company for Air traffic Control (UkSATSE).
The first contract worth 10 milion euros, refers to the systems upgrading of the Kiev Airport, the Ukrainian main hub. SELEX Sistemi Integrati will upgrade and increase both the hardware and software performances of the air traffic control centre of Kiev, named Strela, which was realized by the company in the middle nineties. The Strela control centre performs en route and approach air traffic control and is the most important integrated air traffic control system in the country. In fact it is made of 20 controller working positions equipped with the high resolution CDS2000 screens for the best display of the radar surveillance information. For the central data processing, the control centre can rely on systems for radar data elaboration, flight planning, data record and reproduction, alert for potential medium and short term collision, besides equipments monitoring and control. The Strela upgrading will introduce advanced state of the art flight functionalities, guaranteeing increased performances for flight security and operational efficiency. It represents a further proof of the UkSATSE trust towards SELEX Sistemi Integrati. The second contract SELEX Sistemi Integrati signed through its German subsidiary SELEX Systems Integration GmbH, has a value of about 5 million euros. By this agreement the company will provide three meteorological Meteor radars (featuring a range of about 400 Km) for the regions of Lvov, Karkov e Simferopol. In 2008 the German company had already signed a contract for the meteorological radar coverage of the Kiev region. The new contract represents an important reference for the future extension of the meteorological radar coverage all over the Ukrainian areas. Through these new contracts SELEX Sistemi Integrati confirms its commercial presence in Ukraine, where, in the past, the company had already sold five primary and secondary air traffic control radar systems. The recent agreements represent a further confirmation of SELEX Sistemi Integratis capability to be a lifelong partner for the realization of nation-wide complex ATC systems.
