CAE brings modernization and a full portfolio of services to ATS Training

With the projected growth in air traffic, including from advanced air mobility aircraft, airspace will become further complex. The industry needs to prepare the next generation of air traffic personnel and ensure air navigation service providers are future ready with high quality, efficient and innovative training programs and adequate training capacity.

CAE is the global aviation training leader backed by over 75 years of aviation innovation. We train pilots, aircraft maintenance technicians, cabin crew, and since Fall 2024, we train air traffic services personnel. We’re leveraging our decades-long expertise in training to modernize the ATS domain – with the same focus on safety, innovation, and scalable impact.

We bring the most modern, adaptive and tailored ATS learning experience to our partners. We design our training for outcomes, not just compliance. Our training is grounded in modern learning sciences and is designed to enhance retention, competency development and drive data, improving both the learning quality and workforce readiness.

The training enhancements we bring to the ATS industry include courseware modernization and competency-based training design, cross-disciplinary training (bridging the gap between controllers & pilots), digitization of the training journey (using e-grading, for example), and adopting advanced data analytics to improve training outcomes, such as eye-tracking and biometrics. 

We also enhance training efficiency through optimized training delivery models. This supports faster and more efficient student throughput without compromising learning quality.

CAE offers ANSPs a wide range of services throughout the full training journey:

• We can design the courses, manage operations, integrate technology and deliver training.
• We can support ATS training centre staffing and recruitment.
• Our existing global footprint of over 70 facilities on five continents also offers opportunities to incorporate ATS training at CAE sites wherever there is demand, offering ANSPs close-to-base training.
• Furthermore, we have experience in adapting to various regulatory frameworks and operational realities with enhanced efficiencies.
• Finally, we’re a flexible company. Whether embedding instructors, launching joint training centres or managing full pipelines, we align to our customer’s model.

While many ANSPs manage in-house training academies, this can place a significant strain on resources, pulling focus away from core operations. By outsourcing training to an expert provider like CAE, ANSPs can benefit from a cost-effective and scalable solution. This approach not only alleviates resource constraints but also enhances student-focused training.
