Thales in Spain has been awarded a contract by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) to supply a Deployable Tactical Air Navigation (D-TACAN) system for the Spanish Air & Space Force. IATA: Air Passenger Demand Falls 1.7% in June; Air Cargo Demand Strengthens up 8.5%

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released data for June 2026 global passenger demand: Total demand, measured in revenue passenger kilometers (RPK), was down 1.7% compared to June 2025. Excluding the Middle East, demand declined by 0.6%. Total capacity, measured in available seat kilometers (ASK), decreased 1.3% year-on-year. ENAV awarded contract in Greece to design new flight procedures at 31 airports

ENAV, the Italian Air Navigation Service Provider, has been awarded a contract in Greece by the Hellenic Aviation Service Provider (HASP). This is the largest contract ever awarded by HASP for this type of activity. Working together with its local partner, EFA Ventures, ENAV will support Greece's compliance with European regulations on Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) procedures, which rely on satellite navigation. The project includes obstacle surveys across the territory and the design of new satellite-based instrument flight procedures for 31 Greek airports.

IATA, CANSO and ACI Launch Joint Runway Safety Initiative

The International Air Transport Association (IATA), the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) and Airports Council International (ACI) have launched a joint initiative to reduce the risk of runway incursions. A runway incursion is defined as an aircraft, vehicle or person being incorrectly present on a runway or within its protected area. Incursions are documented in IATA’s Annual Safety Reports, and several recent incursions have been fatal.
