KONGSBERG enables single airport digitalisation and multi airport Remote Tower Centres (RTC). In Norway’s Avinor Digital Towers Programme, the world’s largest operational RTC in Bodø serves 14 airports, demonstrating daily scalability and safety in harsh Arctic, mountainous and coastal environments. Internationally, KONGSBERG is NAV CANADA’s strategic partner for DAATS and will provide the technology to replace selected air traffic control (ATC) towers and flight service stations (FSS) across Canada with sensor data remoted into the planned digital hubs.

The system’s open, real time Service Oriented Architecture (SoA) with DDS middleware secures mission critical data exchange, eases integration and supports SWIM ready growth. The modular architecture enables seamless interfacing with existing legacy systems. It supports remote, virtual and digital contingency tower modes for hubs and regional airports. The Electro Optical Sensor Suite (EOSS) delivers 360° VIS/IR, PTZ, IR, and SLG capabilities, combined with sensor and network redundancy, as well as support for high frame rate camera suites beyond the 360° system—enabling AI assisted object identification and ensuring resilient, low bandwidth, high quality visual performance.
