Junior System Engineer


DFS is seeking to hire a new junior systems engineer.


  • System integration of the company's own air traffic control software (PHOENIX) as part of international projects. In this context, the system and software requirements of our customers are systematically recorded, evaluated and implemented in a targeted manner.
  • Responsibilities will also include troubleshooting and responding to customer queries related to warranty
  • Design acceptance and troubleshooting tests, carry them out together with the customer as part of system acceptance and ensure that the procedure is documented correctly
  • Install and configure Linux systems (e.g. Red Hat, Ubuntu) and adapt the air traffic control software, taking into account individual customer requirements. They support the documentation of the system (e.g. architecture descriptions, installation and user guides, etc.)


  • Successfully completed a degree in natural sciences, a degree in computer science, electrical engineering or aerospace engineering or a comparable major. Alternatively, you have completed vocational training with a corresponding additional qualification
  • Good knowledge of system and software architectures (Linux processes, middleware, virtualization) and the use of Linux operating systems
  • Ideally, gained initial professional experience in a comparable job. Special product knowledge of the air traffic control software is not required and can be learned as part of the induction.
  • Scripting skills with Bash and Python
  • You work independently and goal-oriented and convince with professional competence and a strong hands-on mentality.
  • You bring with you the willingness to travel on business in Germany and abroad
  • Your German and English skills, both written and spoken, are very good
