The EUROCONTROL Innovation Hub (EIH) is seeking to add a Project Engineer within the Air Transport Domain to its team in Brétigny-sur-Orge.
The role:
- Lead and contribute to the development, design and validation of new Air Transport and U/ATM concepts for SESAR and other R&I projects, working groups and/or studies related to the INO Programmes activities (SESAR, Innovation, Drones and Simulations) including:o Capture stakeholders' needs, and plan and task projects development.
- Define high-level validation objectives & techniques, and key performance areas to assess and support projects feasibility.
- Create, review and manage requirement engineering specifications for new concepts and systems (including but not limited to operational, regulatory, safety, design, environmental and testing requirements).
- Coordinate requirements and interfaces with stakeholders.
- Assess data results, technical metrics, and perform trend analysis.
- Perform assessments of projects feasibility through analytical modelling, data analysis or fast-time simulation.
- Drafting OSED (as per ED78A), ConOps or equivalent documentation.
- Review and prepare engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.
- Lead and contribute to the development/update of methods, techniques and tools to support activities.
- Support external stakeholders with expertise on the definition of rules/standardisation on aviation aspects.
- Train and coach junior members of the team on matters related to Air Transport and U/ATM concept development.
- Communicate with stakeholders on activities and develop and maintain effective networking with relevant aviation actors and industry partners to ensure effective information-sharing.
- Support to organise and participate in various aviation activities and events to promote EUROCONTROL’s contribution to relevant projects.
- Carry out any other tasks in line with the main purpose of the job.
Requirements and qualifications:
- Completed university studies of 4 years in a relevant domain (e.g. Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, etc) or 3 years of completed university studies and 1 year of relevant experience or professional training of an equivalent level.
- In addition to the above, a minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience.
- Internal candidates should go to page check on the intranet to see what level of in-house experience is considered equivalent to educational qualifications where appropriate.
- Experience in articulating operational and engineering disciplines with a broad general understanding of concept design, engineering and validation methodologies.
- Experience in concept development, design and validation of concepts in at least one of the following operational domains:o Air Traffic Management / Air Navigation Services (ATM/ANS)
- Airports
- Airspace Users
- Unmanned aircraft system (UAS) / Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM)
- Ability to analyse and assess operational and technological trends and identify and develop most promising approaches.
- Technical document writing and presentation skills in English.
- As an asset:
- Experience in SESAR/Research and Innovation projects.
- Experience or knowledge in agile development methodologies.
- Knowledge in E-OCVM
- Experience in European rulemaking and/or standardisation (e.g. EASA, EUROCAE etc.)
- Knowledge in data analytics, statistical analysis, modelling, algorithm design and software development/scripting.
- Experience in simulation activity
- Knowledge in ATM/ANS provision and tooling
- Experience of current UAS and U-space Airspace Risk Assessment methods (e.g. SORA, ARA, SAM, E-SRM)
- Knowledge in CNS and C-UAS domain
