IFATCA Representative on the ICAO Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems Panel (RPASP)

The International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations (IFATCA) invites expressions of interest from Member Associations with suitably qualified members for the position of IFATCA Representative on the ICAO Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems Panel (RPASP).

The RPASP coordinates and develops ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), Procedures and Guidance material for remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS), to facilitate a safe, secure and efficient integration of remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) into non-segregated airspace and aerodromes.

Candidate Profile
Applicants should be experienced air traffic controllers with strong technical expertise, motivation, and a clear understanding of IFATCA’s objectives.
Preferred candidates will have:
• Practical experience dealing with RPAS procedures (current operational controllers will be given priority);
• Demonstrated ability in developing documentation and procedures;
• Experience preparing and presenting working papers; and
• Proven capability working in committees, ideally at international or regional level.
Desirable Criteria
• Operational experience as an air traffic controller;
• Familiarity with IFATCA and understanding of the Federation’s objectives;
• Sound knowledge of remotely piloted aircraft and their integration with crewed
aircraft;
• Understanding of the relationship between ICAO SARPs, PANS, and national
regulations;
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English;

Time Commitment
The Working Group typically meets twice per year, for five days each session, usually in Montréal (though other locations are possible). Candidates must be reasonably able to secure release/leave to attend meetings.
