What will you do as a Maintenance specialist navigation?
Together with your colleagues, you'll ensure that the navigation and landing systems at Schiphol, Rotterdam, Lelystad, and other locations in the Netherlands operate safely, reliably, and smoothly every day. This includes preventive and corrective maintenance and optimization of, among other things:
Instrument Landing System (ILS) – helps aircraft land safely, even in bad weather.
Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) – accurately determines the distance from an aircraft to the navigation point.
VHF Omnidirectional Range (VOR) – keeps aircraft on course in the airspace.
Tower simulators – where air traffic controllers are trained, a unique and dynamic environment to work in.
Additionally, your focus will be on preventing disruptions through smart monitoring, data analysis, and technical improvements. When incidents occur, you'll analyze them and resolve them methodically. You'll actively contribute to projects and ensure new systems are easy to maintain, safe, and reliable.
Safety is always paramount. You'll work according to procedures, test plans, and work instructions, and contribute to their continuous improvement. Collaboration is essential: you'll work closely with colleagues within the team, other departments, airports, and suppliers, prioritizing knowledge sharing, support, and collaborative learning.
In this role, you'll combine technical expertise, precision, and curiosity to maintain systems reliability, minimize disruptions, and directly contribute to the safety of Dutch airspace. Every safe landing you make thanks to you demonstrates that your work truly matters.
Here you will work as a Maintenance specialist navigation
You'll join a close-knit team of twelve colleagues who together form the Maintenance Navigation team, part of the Maintenance, Monitoring & Control department at LVNL. This department is the technological heart of safe and efficient air traffic in the Netherlands.
Together, you'll ensure that all the systems that keep our airspace running continue to perform reliably 24/7: from communication and navigation to radar and air traffic services. You'll be part of the second line of service, the specialists who resolve disruptions before they impact the airspace.
Here you'll work on technology that truly matters. You'll see firsthand how your work contributes to the safety of thousands of flights every day and continuously learn from your colleagues. It's an environment where collaboration, knowledge sharing, and accountability are paramount, and where your contribution is visible and meaningful.
