COMSOFT win prestigious NATS Supplier Performance Award

Premium air traffic services provider NATS honoured the German ATC expert for an extraordinary supplier relationship

- Fareham, UK

UK air traffic management provider NATS have chosen German ATC specialist COMSOFT to receive its renowned award under the Supplier Performance Management Process.

This greatly recognised, annual award is presented to suppliers who have been demonstrating an unbroken overall performance and outstanding cooperation over time. This is a huge achievement for COMSOFT who have a working relationship with NATS that spans more than two decades.

NATS and COMSOFT’s bond stretches back to 1993 when the pair first joined forces to accomplish UK-RADNET, the first countrywide radar distribution network, integrating all national radars in order to feed surveillance information to all UK ATC centres, in particular to the then new Swanwick ATCC.

Another big success for the duo was ERCAMS, a nationwide infrastructure program to monitor all 24 NATS en-route radar sites, from North to South, while also servicing the next generation of radars that had been upgraded. The ERCAMS program has now been accomplished, reaching its last site acceptance in May 2013, and current activity focus moves towards a central control and monitoring system called GCAMS, for the supervision of equipment at NATS ATC centres, in line with NATS’s future strategy.

Tim Bullock, NATS Director of Supply Chain Management, presented the award to COMSOFT’s Chief Executive Officer, Manfred Schmid, stating: “This Supplier Performance Award has been well-earned. COMSOFT have been a valued and effective supplier to NATS for many years and the Award recognises their commitment to continuously improving their performance in the delivery of products and services to NATS.”

Acting as a key supplier for NATS, COMSOFT’s repertoire with the ATS provider encompasses many ambitious aeronautical infrastructure projects that help NATS to enhance flight safety.

In recent years COMSOFT and NATS also achieved a huge milestone together by successfully completing the first transatlantic AMHS connection to the USA. This was also followed up by a second interregional link to ASIA/PAC through Singapore.

Commenting on this major achievement, Manfred Schmid added: “We feel very proud to be honoured with this important award, which is proof of our strong commitment towards our customers. We very much look forward to continuing our relationship and implementing further projects with NATS in the future, steadily revising and enhancing our customer service strategy without resting on our laurels.
