ADW Hybrid 2021 will take place in January 2022

Adding value to society with Urban Air Mobility

- Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

The leading international platform for Urban Air Mobility, Amsterdam Drone Week, will this year for the first time in its existence take place not in December, but in January 2022. The organization has decided - in close consultation with its partners the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Commercial UAV Expo - to delay the event until early 2022 due to the impact of COVID-19 on travel and the event industry. This date will offer partners, speakers, visitors and delegates more certainty that they will actually be able to travel to Amsterdam and thus bring the worldwide UAM Community together.

“Although the fully online organized ADW 2020 was a great success given the circumstances, we prefer to see the fast-growing industry around drones and unmanned aircraft back in Amsterdam in person,” said Paul Riemens, CEO RAI Amsterdam. “Bringing people together is part of the DNA of RAI Amsterdam. In order to facilitate this in the best and safest way, we will make a one-off shift to January.”

“Innovative Air Mobility is an area of intense activity for EASA. We are steadily putting all the rules in place for these operations and working on certification for these entirely new types of aircraft,” said EASA Executive Director Patrick Ky. “The High Level Conference at ADW is an important platform for discussions with a range of stakeholders on these developments.”

ADW Hybrid 2021
ADW Hybrid 2021 will therefore take place from 18 to 20 January 2022. And it will be a hybrid event, meaning live and online accessible. During the three-day event there will be an extensive programme and matchmaking facilities. New are the online speed networking sessions simulating live matchmaking in a controlled online setting. There will be two stages from which livestreams will be broadcasted daily. During ADW Hybrid 2021 the EASA High Level Conference will take place on 18 and 19 January and the Commercial UAV Expo Europe will be held on 19 and 20 January.

As in previous years, Amsterdam Drone Week works closely with mobile operators, GSMA, air traffic managers CANSO and GUTMA, the European Commission, various European cities, united in UIC2 (UAM Initiative Cities Community), the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, authorities and space agencies such as EASA, CAAS, FAA, NASA and NLR. And for the first time this year, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) is joining the conversation.

EASA High Level Conference
The main theme of the EASA High Level Conference will be ‘UAM becoming a reality’. Main topics are the Multi-Level Governance of Urban Skies; Integration of new entrants in Urban Airspace and overall U-space-ATM integration; Mobility Hubs: drone & eVTOL landing sites and vertiport. The outcome of EASA Social Acceptance study and status of the implementation of the key findings will be discussed. There will be presentations and discussions on concrete implementation projects. In addition, educational and more technical sessions, workshops and round tables will be held on, among others: on the application of the guidelines related to design verification of UAS, technical requirements on vertiports, counter drones technology and U-Space implementation.

Commercial UAV Expo Europe
ADW Hybrid is in co-location with Commercial UAV Expo Europe. On January 19 and 20, 2022 all key players from the vertical industries will be showcasing live in the exhibition hall. For delegates a conference programme will be held on the drone vertical industry segments: Construction, Drone Delivery, Energy & Utilities, Forestry & Agriculture, Infrastructure & Transportation, Public Safety & Emergency Services, Security and Surveying & Mapping.  Additionally the conference programme also includes deep-dive discussions and answers key questions that operators of all types are facing.

Amsterdam Drone Week agenda 2021 and 2022
In 2021 two ADW Online Community events are planned prior to ADW Hybrid 2021. First the ADW Industry update on Urban Air Mobility and the role of cities on 1 July 2021 and second the ADW UAM summit Americas on Urban Air Mobility Americas on 9 September 2021 in co-location with Commercial UAV Expo Americas. The ADW Hybrid 2022 edition will take place again end of year 2022 from November 29 to December 1, 2022. For more information visit: www.amsterdamdroneweek.com
