Airservices releases Reconciliation Action Plan

The plan sets out a four year vision for actions and targets that will be implemented throughout the organisation to promote opportunities for current and future Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.

Airservices Acting Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Clark, said that the plan takes a holistic approach to create meaningful and sustainable opportunities for Indigenous Australians across a range of roles and locations around Australia.

It raises awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures and we aim to deliver on the actions and targets outlined in this plan over the next four years, Mr Clark said.

This includes boosting the number of Indigenous employees to at least 2.6 per cent of our workforce, commencing an Indigenous apprenticeship program, participating in the National Indigenous Cadetship Program and commencing an Indigenous scholarship program.

This plan is an important framework for us to set and meet clear targets to improve the recognition and engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our organisation and also reflects our commitment to ensuring greater staff diversity, Mr Clark said.

The plan was developed by Airservices Reconciliation Committee in consultation with Reconciliation Australia.

Airservices will report back to Reconciliation Australia on what is achieved over the term of the plan.

Airservices is Australias air navigation services provider and plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operations of the national air traffic network through the provision of air traffic control, aviation rescue and fire fighting and associated services around Australia.
