Airways New Zealand to install automated flight billing system into China

Developed and in operational use by Airways New Zealand , the Flight-Yield system is able to automatically retrieve details of all flights from an air traffic management system and apply the appropriate charging policy for each air traffic control service provided to each flight, and based on that information, calculate the correct fee for every flight by each airline operator and produce an invoice. Flight-Yield was awarded the supreme award for Overall Excellence in the Use of IT, by Computerworld Magazine last year. The Flight-Yield solution being provided to the China Aviation Administration will provide billing functionality for Chinas entire air navigation services charges, airport fees, Civil Aviation Fund policy and airport services charges, said Bruce Heesterman, General Manager of Airways International. Once operational, the Flight-Yield system will collect and process Chinas aviation data from its five regional air traffic management bureaus, over 40 air traffic control centres, 150 domestic airports and billing some 300 airlines. China is a significant aviation market with about 300,000 flights per month and an annual double digit air traffic growth. The aviation industry is a key part of its ongoing economic prosperity, and the Flight-Yield system provides China with the ongoing capability to effectively manage their billing management processes to cope with this growth, said Mr Heesterman.
