Aspen-Pitkin County Airport Selects Searidge Intrusion Detection System

Searidge Technologies, provider of intelligent video solutions to Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) and airports, announced that Aspen-Pitkin County Airport (ASE) has selected Searidge to provide an intrusion detection solution for the perimeter adjoining the movement and non-movement areas of the airport.
At ASE, the area adjoining the movement and non-movement areas has been identified as a hot spot for vehicle and pedestrian deviations; when a human or vehicle crosses from the non-movement area to the movement area without Air Traffic Control (ATC) clearance the incident is documented as a Vehicle/Pedestrian Deviation by the controllers in the tower. Searidge will provide ASE with their intelligent video platform IntelliDAR to automatically alert airport operations and security personnel, as well as, Fixed Base Operator, of an intrusion or impending intrusion; decreasing the Vehicle/Pedestrian Deviation rate, and increasing safety and security of airport operations.

Vehicle/Pedestrian Deviations into the movement area by unauthorized persons has caused the FAA to require that the Aspen-Pitkin County Airport actively take steps to curtail these incursions or face regulatory action. To address this, we have completed a detailed evaluation of several technology solutions and selected Searidge for its ability to address our particular needs with both their technology and expertise, says Jim Elwood, Airport Director, Aspen-Pitkin County Airport.

The Searidge Intrusion Detection solution is a scalable system that automatically monitors and depicts all targets in the area of interest to the security personnel in real-world LAT/LONG positions on an intuitive 2-D map display. The system provides the security operator with features such as intrusion detection and tracking, audible and visual alerts, real-time video feeds of the target(s) detected and video archiving for incident review, investigations and training. This data helps to ensure all intrusions are identified, giving advanced warning to security operators to act on alerts immediately.

We are extremely pleased to be working with Aspen-Pitkin County Airport to solve their incursion problem, says Moodie Cheikh, chief executive officer, Searidge Technologies. Our intelligent video platform has been proven in a variety of air traffic control and airport applications and its versatility and adaptability enables us to effectively address Aspens specific aviation security needs.
