Avlite Systems Provides Solar Runway Lights for African International Airport

Avlite Systems Inc. has received an order for solar runway edge lights from the Civil Aviation Authority of a sub-Saharan African Nation for use on the runway at their international airport.
AV420 RF Solar Runway Edge Light-smAvlites international consultants ARC Aviation Renewables Corp, worked with a regional air operator to identify the appropriate solution to provide backup runway edge lighting on the airports main runway. The airport had been experiencing reliability issues with their existing conventional runway lighting system and needed a short term emergency solution as well as a long term backup solution. The Avlite AV420 radio controlled solar runway edge light was chosen for its ability to provide emergency runway lighting in the event of a failure as well as to augment the conventional runway lighting system during the planned phased refit. Once the planned runway lighting refit is complete that AV420 solar runway edge light will continue to provide value to the operator by acting as backup lighting on this runway and potentially at other airfields within the country. The AV420s 2.4GHz radio mesh network enables ATC to fully control the solar lights from the tower giving control to turn the lights on and off as well as cycling through three steps of intensity and other common ATC lighting commands. Avlite Systems provides the only complete line of radio controlled solar airfield lights. The 2.4GHz radio control system used by Avlite is the only radio controlled solar lighting system that operates within a globally accepted frequency band further establishing Avlite Systems as the leader in the solar airfield lighting industry.
