Cyprus DCA joins CANSO Europe
The Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) is pleased to welcome the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) of Cyprus as the newest member of its Europe region. DCA’s membership strengthens CANSO’s presence in the eastern Mediterranean and adds Cyprus’ voice to the global air traffic management (ATM) community.
The agreement was implemented during the European Aviation Strategy Summit, held last week in Nicosia, Cyprus, under the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union. CANSO Europe Director, Enrico Parini was invited to address the summit on behalf of CANSO, speaking on airspace management in times of crisis.
While in Nicosia, the CANSO delegation also had the opportunity to visit the Nicosia Area Control Centre (ACC), where they were warmly welcomed by the team and given a tour of the facilities. The team shared a detailed explanation of the complexities of managing Cypriot airspace, offering valuable insight into the day-to-day work that keeps one of the region’s busiest and most strategically important areas of airspace safe and efficient.
"We are delighted to welcome the Department of Civil Aviation of Cyprus to CANSO Europe," said Enrico Parini, CANSO Europe Director. "Cyprus manages some of the most complex and strategically important airspace in the eastern Mediterranean, and its expertise will strengthen our collective work to keep European skies safe, efficient and resilient – particularly in times of crisis. We look forward to their active contribution to CANSO’s work across the region."
