Uzbekistan’s Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) Awarded in CANSO’s GreenATM Environmental Accreditation Programme

- Almaty, Kazkhstan.

Uzaeronavigation becomes the first air navigation service provider in the region to achieve Level 1 in CANSO’s GreenATM environmental accreditation programme.

Uzaeronavigation, the air navigation service provider of Uzbekistan, has been awarded Level 1 in CANSO’s GreenATM environmental accreditation programme, becoming the first ANSP in the Euro-Central Asian region to be recognised for its commitment to advancing sustainability in air traffic management.

The award was officially handed over during the third CANSO Euro/Central Asia CEO Summit in Almaty, Kazakhstan on 10 September, where leaders from across the region gathered to shape the future of aviation and strengthen cooperation on environmental initiatives.

GreenATM, launched by CANSO in 2022, provides a global framework to measure and guide ANSPs on their environmental performance. Accreditation is structured across five levels, with each stage reflecting deeper progress towards reducing aviation’s environmental footprint through operational efficiency and sustainable practices.

Applying for Level 1 was a deliberate and strategic step for Uzaeronavigation. The organisation sees GreenATM as both a benchmark and a roadmap to guide its environmental journey, helping to improve programmes and set the stage for future progress.

In particular, the accreditation specifically recognised the organisation’s strong commitment to environmental governance, demonstrated through the introduction of a comprehensive environmental policy and roadmap. This roadmap covers future efforts across services, operations and infrastructure. Uzaeronavigation also demonstrated a strong awareness of energy conservation and a clear initiative to transition towards renewable energy.

Simon Hocquard, CANSO CEO and President, said: “Air navigation service providers have a vital role to play in making aviation more sustainable, and Uzaeronavigation’s achievement sets an inspiring example for the region. The GreenATM panel was impressed not only by their performance but also by their leadership in being the first to join the programme in Eurasia. This is a milestone worth celebrating, and we are proud to stand alongside Uzaeronavigation as they continue on this journey.”

Doniyor Djumaev, Director General of Uzaeronavigation, said: “We are honoured to receive this recognition. Sustainability is at the heart of our vision for the future of air navigation in Uzbekistan. This accreditation is not only a validation of our efforts so far, but also a guide for where we want to go. We look forward to working closely with CANSO and our neighbours in the region to strengthen environmental programmes and build a more sustainable future for aviation together.”

With this recognition, Uzaeronavigation joins a growing number of ANSPs worldwide who are using GreenATM to embed sustainability into their daily operations and long-term planning, while also inspiring regional cooperation for greener skies.
