Arndt Schoenemann becomes new CEO of DFS

- Langen, Germany.

On 1 April 2021, Arndt Schoenemann (56) will take over as CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung, the German air navigation service provider.

Together with the executive management team of Dr Kerstin Böcker, Dirk Mahns and Friedrich-Wilhelm Menge, Schoenemann will take on the demanding task in these exceptionally difficult times for the aviation industry. With his more than 30 years of experience in aviation, he brings with him a perspective that spans the whole industry, a deep personal interest in technical innovation and operational management experience.

Mr Schoenemann was managing director of Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH for the last twelve years, one of the leading aerospace suppliers in Germany. Thanks to his involvement in the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI), he is well connected in the sector, both nationally and internationally. He has been a member of the BDLI board since 2005 and a vice-president since 2011. Schoenemann was most recently also a member of the board and chairman of the Supply Chain Commission of the Aerospace & Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD). As such, he has already had to deal intensively with the current pandemic-related crisis in the sector.

Arndt Schoenemann: "I am very much looking forward to my new role as CEO of DFS. The challenge in the next few years will be to safely manage a difficult balancing act, namely to deliver affordable services on the one hand, while still being able to meet the fluctuating demand for these services on the other." For Schoenemann, this includes having an innovation mindset, one coupled with the drive for continuous improvement of the existing system to create a safe and eco-friendly form of transport and serve the interests of the customers of DFS.

Arndt Schoenemann succeeds Prof Klaus-Dieter Scheurle, who retired from DFS on 31 December 2020.
