Dr. Werner Langhans Joins Era Corporation From Austro Control

Dr. Werner Langhans has been appointed Director of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region for Era Corporations Air Traffic Management business unit. Dr. Langhans has an extensive background in multilateration and has been a champion for the technology ever since its inception.
langhans_werner_112x174In Austro Control Dr Langhans held positions as Head of Technology Development and Head of Strategic Business Development for all Austro Control Engineering Services. Dr. Langhans has managed Austro Controls wide area multilateration development and deployment and was vital in getting the new technology installed and certified. Dr. Langhans is also the current Chairman of Eurocontrols Multilateration Task Force and a well recognized authority on multilateration in Europe, having authored and presented a number of papers on the technology in various journals and conferences. With Austro Control, I had an opportunity to see firsthand the power of multilateration technologies for advancing safety and capacity in Austria, while simultaneously reducing surveillance life cycle costs drastically, said Dr. Langhans. I am excited about working with Era, because it represents an opportunity to work with a proven surveillance leader and make important contributions across Europe and around the world. Dr. Langhans will be responsible for the overall growth and development of the Air Traffic Management Solutions group in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. With Eras substantial and increasing installed customer base, Werners unique and extensive operational experience will allow us to develop richer partnerships with our existing customers, while continuing to support rapidly growing areas such as Africa and the Middle East, said Russell Hulstrom, Eras Vice President and General Manager, Air Traffic Management Solutions. Dr. Langhans has a Masters Degree and PhD in Engineering and conducted his doctoral thesis on low noise electronics. He also holds an Aviation MBA degree, for which he prepared a thesis on the economics of multilateration.
