ERA has signed the 4th contract in row to provide maintenance of its surveillance system functioning at Kuala Lumpur Airport for 20 years

- Pardubice, Czech Republic.

ERA has been awarded yet another contract to provide 1st class assurance services of its surface surveillance MLAT system, which has been operational at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Malaysia since 2007. The contract was co-signed by the Malaysian firm ClearWisdom Sdn Bhd, which has won a tender issued by Malaysian ANSP CAAM (Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia). The signing ceremony took place within the exhibition Defence Services Asia, held in Malaysian capital, on April 21st,2026.

The surface multilateration system by ERA at KLIA was installed in 2007, extended in 2012 and consists of the net of ground stations of ERA Multi-sensor Surveillance System MSS. There are also 200 SQUID squitter beacons for vehicle tracking in use at the airport. The so-called MasterCare programme has maintained both systems ever since using the following processes: obsolescence management, spares stock management, repair management and preventive maintenance including a 24/7 help desk.

Malaysia is a tropical climate country, and the system at KLIA consequently faces numerous harsh weather challenges; it has to be completely redundant. ERA guarantees the prevention of any possible unpleasant complications as well as maintenance on a high technical level throughout the life cycle. ERA will cooperate on the system maintenance with its local partner ClearWisdom.

The actual contract is the fourth order of MasterCare Premium programme for KLIA after three years of duration of the previous one signed in 2023 and will prolong ERA services for another three years until 2029. MasterCare assurance services address the entire system including the hardware, firmware and software to ensure ERA’s systems operate at peak performance.

“By a first-class level of maintaining our proven multilateration system we not only prolong its life-cycle, but also, I dare say, help to assure KLIA maintains its position among the safest and most important air traffic hubs in South-East Asia,” stated Ondrej Jebalek, ERA Senior Sales Manager.
