Era Systems Corporation, a subsidiary of SRA International, Inc. (NYSE: SRX), today announced that its fully hosted Itinerant Aircraft Billing (IAB) system built for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) has been successfully installed and is now in full operational use.
The solution, which utilizes Eras multilateration surveillance system and built on the same technology as AirScene.com RevenueVue, has been deployed at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). The system was specifically designed to look beyond the charges typically captured by a standard landing fee system to address itinerant operations, parking, as well as terminal use fees. Previously, PANYNJ, one of the largest airport systems in the world, relied on separate, uniquely configured billing systems at each of its managed airports, requiring extensive back-office accounting work. The new Era billing system provides faster, more accurate information and streamlines the billing process by having a single system automatically send invoices through PANYNJs accounting system, in a process that takes minutes rather than days. Our billing application for PANYNJ is one of the most sophisticated in the world, due to the diversity in rules and rates between the different airports, said Era Vice President Bill Colligan. The system relies heavily on a rules-based system that automates an airports flight tracking and billing process. This leads to improved staff productivity and efficiency, accurate invoicing and a significant reduction in the billing cycle, which can help PANYNJ achieve a rapid return on investment. The IAB, built on the AirScene.com RevenueVue foundation, is a highly accurate and comprehensive revenue generating and auditing application available to airports. Because the application is powered by Eras next-generation flight tracking technology, there are few errors and omissions when generating and tracking invoices. The system has also passed a comprehensive set of tests performed by PANYNJs audit department, validating that the system is both precise and secure. Era Systems Corporation provides next-generation air traffic management tools that address core challenges like safety, efficiency, profitability and functionality. Its innovative use of proven next-generation technologies, like multilateration and ADS-B, help air navigation service providers (ANSPs) and airport operators ease capacity constraints; improve airspace and ground space efficiencies; and reduce costs.
