Era Installs Dual Use Surveillance System at Sardinia Test Range

Era a.s., a Czech subsidiary of SRA International, Inc. (NYSE: SRX), today announced it has successfully installed its indigenously developed dual-use MSS multilateration surveillance system for the Italian Ministry of Defense (MoD) at the Sardinia test range. The system has been integrated into the ranges air traffic control system by Vitrociset, the prime on the contract.

MSS by Era makes up the multi-sensor component of the ranges surveillance solution, and allows up-to-the-second monitoring of the airspace surrounding the range.

MSS is a long-standing technology of Era a.s., which has been deployed successfully as a reliable and effective commercial surveillance system for civilian air traffic control. However, the systems capabilities provide a low-cost solution to handle the needs of military area control, which made this an attractive option for the Italian DoD.

MSS by Era is a mature system providing high availability, maintainability and survivability in all operational environments. Its accuracy, high-update rate and ability to be deployed in all types of terrain makes it an ideal solution to meet the surveillance requirements of civilian and military users alike, as well as homeland surveillance areas over land and sea.

Era a.s. provides next-generation air traffic management tools that address core challenges like safety, efficiency, profitability and functionality. Its innovative use of proven next-generation technologies, like multilateration and ADS-B, help air navigation service providers (ANSPs) and airport operators ease capacity constraints; improve airspace and ground space efficiencies; and reduce costs.
