European flights increased by 1.7% in March on the same month of 2010, lying on the low-side of the forecast range.
European air traffic increased by 1.7% in March, slightly lower-than-forecast figure.

The European Regions Airline Association reported a 7.4% growth in passenger traffic for 2010.

IATA expects oil prices to be 20% higher in 2011 than in 2010. The share of fuel costs is forecast to increase amongst operating costs in 2011.

Oil prices in April climb to $124/barrel.

EUROCONTROL statistics and forecasts
The political unrest in Egypt and Tunisia resulted in a fall off in traffic of about 180 and 25 flights/day respectively whereas the effect in Japan was a decrease of about 15 flights/day.

Based on preliminary data for delay from all causes, 32% of flights were delayed on departure in March; this is a 6 percentage point decrease on March last year. Airline-related delays were the main contributor to primary departure delays with 48% share of delay minutes.
