At a ceremony yesterday, Peggy Devestel, Director of the Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre (MUAC) received the “Person of the Year 2025” award from the Belgian Aviation Press Club.
This prestigious recognition reflects Peggy’s dedication, commitment and significant contribution to the industry.
Commenting on receiving the award, Peggy Devestel, said:
“I’m incredibly honoured to have received the “Person of the Year 2025” award from the Belgian Aviation Press Club. This recognition isn’t mine alone. It also belongs to the many people – family, friends, colleagues and mentors – who have provided so much support and encouragement over the years. When I began my career, there were very few women in operational roles and even fewer in leadership positions. The path to where I am today hasn’t always been easy; it’s taken perseverance, the support of many and a strong belief that progress is possible. To be chosen for this award is one of the greatest honours of my life - not just on a personal level, but as a reflection of how far we’ve come as an industry and as a symbol of what’s possible for the next generation of female professionals. Thank you for this honour and to everyone who has come on this journey with me.”
