Fijis new AMHS/ATN and AIS System Attains full Maturity

Airport Fiji Limited (AFL) has successfully commissioned their new COMSOFT system completing this important ATN backbone site.
NADI/FIJI, June 2010 In June the air navigation service provider of Fiji has completed the cut-over of their new AMHS/ATN and AIS system delivered by German COMSOFT. The advanced message handling solution AIDA-NG was taken into service as replacement for the legacy system that no longer met AFLs expectations on a sound and future-proof solution.
The system is augmented with the elaborate AIS system of COMSOFTs product line CADAS for the efficient and comfortable management of Fiji's NOTAM and OPMET related information. With Fijis distinctive location in the South Pacific it plays a vital role as boundary ATN backbone site, interconnecting the ICAO regions of Northern America and Asia-Pacific. Moreover, Fiji is one of the five designated Asia/Pacific Regional OPMET Data Banks responsible for the management of OPMET bulletins. Because of this pivotal role the proven maturity of the supplied components was of utmost importance.
As an additional benefit, with CADAS the new Fiji AIS is optimally prepared for an upgrade to a fully integrated AIM solution on the basis of the emerging AIXM 5.1 standard. AIXM 5.1 combines static and dynamic AIS data and therefore is a compulsory prerequisite for the support of future Digital NOTAMs.
As an interim, Fiji is still connected to their remote communication partners via AFTN but is ready to establish operational AMHS connections to Australia and the USA. COMSOFTs market-leading message handling system AIDA-NG is involved in virtually all operational AMHS connections worldwide.
