FREQUENTIS awarded contract for three new voice communication systems in Chile

The Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil de Chile (DGAC the Chilean ANSP) is modernising its communication infrastructure in three airports with the voice communication system (VCS) from Frequentis.
The Frequentis VCS achieved the top result in a best value for money evaluation, and was chosen as the next-generation solution for operational communications at the Valdivio, Osorno and Arica airports. This continues both the Frequentis success story and DGACs trust in the world market leader in VCS for air  traffic management. DGAC has now ordered six voice communication systems from Frequentis within recent years, and the new ones will be installed in 2012.

In order to meet the inherent requirements for high reliability in an air traffic control tower, Frequentis will supply DGAC with the companys cost-effective smart3020X system. Part of the VCS 3020X family, the smart3020X voice communication system is designed for smaller tower infrastructures and employs state-of-the-art technology for digital voice communications. It is based on a unique, highly modular, distributed and decentralised architecture that incorporates extensive redundancy - providing a true parallel operation core switch with duplicated data and audio paths. The smart3020X features the very latest user interface technology, including sunlight-readable colour touch panels.

As with all VCS 3020X systems from Frequentis, the new systems will be fully capable of adapting to future requirements, including support for integration within IP-based environments. The new VCS fully complies with EUROCAE WG67 specifications.
